What is TOAST?
The TOAST (Test Of Arabidopsis Space Transcriptome) database is a data visualization tool developed by the Gilroy Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It is a collection of genetic data derived from spaceflight plant biology experiments. Data was mined from the public NASA GeneLab repository. On the dashboard, each panel represents an individual experiment/ecotype/assay. By clicking on a panel you can quickly apply filters to discover significant genes being expressed. Researchers and students may use this tool as a way to choose a starting point for molecular biology technique and to explore genes of interest in spaceflight.
This database is an early testing prototype. The Gilroy Lab would appreciate any feedback or comments. If you are interested, please fill out our short survey. Contact us here: Gilroy Lab Contact. Thank you and let’s grow plants in space.
